Truth Can Be Stranger Than Fiction

Today’s post is going to be a little different from my normal posts. I’m participating in RX Fitness Lady’s Mini Blog Challenge Party. I came across some strange animal stories today while surfing the web that I thought I would share…one of which is not so funny (especially if it happens to you), and another that kind of is. But both are bizarre!

I definitely would not have been amused if this first animal encounter happened to me, at least not at the time. After I was safe and sound, I might be laughing at the absurdity of it. During? Not so much! When you were a kid, did you check the closet or under the bed for monsters? I did. And I almost always check in hotels, even today. Can you imagine checking under your hotel bed and finding a real live crocodile?! This actually happened in Zimbabwe. The person in the room never actually noticed the crocodile…the housekeeper did! How does something like this happen? How does a crocodile just manage to take up residence in a hotel room? Was this a cruel joke? Or was the croc just looking to get away for some peace and quiet? Without a doubt, this is up there as far as weird animal stories go! Check out the video!

I also came across an older story about the friendly deer that wandered on to a cross country race course, and allowed runners to pet her. Apparently she took a special liking to one young man and chased him, jumped up on him like your dog would if he was excited to see you, and licked him. Yes, you read that right! You have to check out the pictures…definitely another peculiar wildlife encounter! I know a deer jumping up on you can hurt you, but it looks pretty clear from the pictures that this deer had only the best intentions! The young runner was uninjured but coaches had to intervene to separate the deer from her new friend.

Truth really is stranger than fiction sometimes! Fortunately no one got hurt!

We have a herd of deer that live in our backyard - 7 total, with babies and a buck. They drive me crazy and are like pests. But I MIGHT actually be swayed in my opinion if any one of them actually acted like I was a rockstar and worthy of attentIon (because I am! obvs). Scratch that, I would flip out if it were the buck doing that to me...but if it was one of those baby deers, I'd let them eat my azaleas.

Wasn't that kind of cute? It was like the deer bonded! I can't believe you have 7 that live in your yard. We have them in and out but they don't stick around.

I'd have asked the damned reptile to split the bill with me, at least.

A couple of years ago our neighbors had an ALLIGATOR under their car! Too close for me. Now I'm scared every time I take the garbage out at night that I'm gonna get attacked by an alligator!! I would have a heart attack if there was a crocodile under my bed! Sounds like a really horrible scary children's book!

I would be a complete mess if I saw something like that. I don't want to see any alligators or crocs up close and personal...not under my car, not in my swimming pool, not in my yard, and definitely DEFINITELY not under my bed!

The deer one was cute and scary at the same time. The alligator one - GEEZ!
