Check out 30 Sweet Treats Perfect for a Cookie Exchange
by Michelle Nahom at Foodie.com
‘Tis the season of cookie exchanges!
I must admit, I find cookie exchanges daunting. Baking is my least favorite thing to do in the kitchen, because you can’t just change a recipe. Yes, I’m one of those cooks…I almost never follow a recipe exactly. I’m also known for not reading a recipe all the way though, and finding out halfway through the recipe that I don’t actually have everything I need. Substitutions aren’t as easy to make with baking as they are with cooking.
I’ll tell you a funny baking story…
This is going way back. Some of you may have heard this story before, but I will tell it again, since it’s a cookie exchange story. I usually leave the cookie making to my daughter and husband, who are much more patient bakers than I. However, I was going to a cookie exchange and decided to make my mother in law’s kiss cookies which are easy, and well-loved in our house. In the first batch, I forgot the sugar. In the second batch, I forgot the eggs. Or maybe it was the other way around…at this point I really don’t remember. In both cases though, I had cookies in the oven before I realized it. This was not one of my finer moments.
Of course I had waited until the night before to bake, so at this point it was getting late. I was tired, grumpy, and ready to throw in the towel. I was ready to call my friend and tell her I wasn’t coming.
My husband took pity on me and made my cookies.
Over the years, I’ve gotten better at baking. But I still consider myself a much better cook than baker. You won’t find a ton of desserts on my blog. Maybe that will change down the road. I do like to make bar cookies…I actually made some delicious bar cookies with jam not too long ago. However, my kids found them a little too sweet (hard to believe, but true), so I am going to work on modifying the recipe. I loved them!
At any rate, I’ve collected 30 fabulous cookie exchange recipes for cookies and other sweet treats, most of them easy. This time of year, sometimes we just need easy. I know I do.

All of these recipes look amazing. I'm not much of a baker, but holiday cookies are a must in our house. Thank you for sharing my Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake Brownies. I hope everyone enjoys them.
