Life Changing New Year’s Resolutions

2013 is here and I have been thinking long and hard about my Resolutions for the year to come, as I am sure many of you are as well.  What I want to avoid though is that lack of focus as the year goes on, when I find my resolve waning.  In the past, I’ve found it easier to stay on track when I set realistic goals, as well as goals that don’t require the help or cooperation of someone else.  The other thing I find helps me is to actually write my goals down!  For some reason the act of committing them to paper keeps me more accountable. It’s even better if I write it somewhere I can look at it on a daily basis to help remind me, like a dry erase board in the kitchen or the office.  As I am organizing my office, I will be keeping this in mind!

As I said above, I’ve been thinking a lot about my New Year’s Resolutions.  I have a list of goals I’d like to achieve over the next year but I’d like to make some life changes, and with that in mind, these are my resolutions for the New Year.

1. Set Boundaries

I’m a work at home mom and I tend to be a workaholic.  But when one of my kids made the comment, “you’re not going to bring work with you on vacation, are you?” it made me realize I need to make some changes.  As any parent who works from the home knows, boundaries can sometimes blur. But in the coming year, I am going to make a conscious effort to set better work hours and stick to them.

2. Get my Home Organized

The disarray around my house has been another result of being a work at home mom. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to get all my work done, get the kids everywhere they need to be, cook, clean, and keep the house organized.  Guess what falls by the wayside? Over the past few years, the clutter has really built up.  With better planning, better habits, and an organizing strategy, I think I can get the house organized and the clutter under control, one room at a time!

What about you? What do you resolve to change about your life this year?
