Mention: Media and Social Monitoring at Its Best!

Do you know what people are saying about your business? About your brand? About you?

When someone makes a comment about your company on Facebook (good or bad), you’re probably not going to see it. That means you won’t have the chance to react. In the case of a customer complaint, you won’t have the opportunity to right a wrong…or have a chance to do damage control! In the case of a compliment, you won’t have the opportunity to thank the happy customer.

What if I told you there was an easy way to find this information in real time?

Mention is a web and social media monitoring tool that allows you to create alerts for your name, your brand, your industry, your competitors…really, anything you want to follow…and gives you updates in real time! It’s like Google Alerts, only much more comprehensive in terms of the information you receive. Mention makes it very easy to find out where you’ve been highlighted. Obviously, there are huge benefits to having access to this information. When you have this information in real time, you have the ability to react quickly.

Right now you can sign up for a free trial. After your trial is over, Mention does offer a free option, or based on your business, you can choose an upgraded plan. There is a mobile version for your phone.

Here is an alert I created for myself.

Mention: Creating An Alert

Notice the left hand side. You have a lot of options. You can Favorite an alert so you can easily find it. You can also add Social Accounts, which allows you to share or retweet a mention as you become aware of it!

Mention: Social Accounts

Trashed includes “mentions” that you have deleted…Mention “learns” what is relevant from what you delete, and filters going forward. Tasks comes into play if you have more than one user. A User is someone you’ve shared your alert with. You can collaborate with team members using Mention and assign tasks to each user of the alert. In my case, I don’t have any users besides myself. Activity Feed keeps track of sll of the activity…Facebook shares, retweets, etc.

Here’s a couple things I found the other day that I might not have if I wasn’t using Mention. A genealogy newsletter featured one of my blog posts: From Shoebox to Album: Organizing a Lifetime of Photos. What a nice surprise!

And my guest post on Storytelling with Your Photos at Tamara Camera Blog was featured on the BlogHer site.

I’m so glad I came across Mention. I love being able to access this type of information. Truly, anyone can benefit from using a tool like this!

How will you use Mention?

Sharing is caring!
