We usually throw a party for July 4th, complete with fireworks. This year we’ll have family in as well as friends, and we’re looking forward to a great celebration.

For us, the food is a big part of any party. Some people concentrate on party decor; we concentrate on the food. It’s not unusual for us to start planning the menu well in advance, with some old favorites and trying out a few new recipes we are considering.

#FireworksAndFood

One of those new recipes that I decided to try out ahead was this (Skinny) Mexican Grilled Corn from the Cookie Rookie. It looked really appealing from the picture, although the “skinny” threw me off a little bit. I don’t usually think too much about calories, although maybe I should. When I looked at the recipe, I was curious as to how it would turn out. I would never have thought to put Greek yogurt and sour cream on my corn on the cob! But because it looked so good, I just had to try it! It definitely met expectations…it was delicious! We have family visiting so I made it last night for dinner. Every single piece disappeared, and several people commented on how good it was.

The recipes I put together for you in this #FireworksAndFood July 4th collection has some spicy selections to go along with the fireworks, and plenty of red, white, and blue too! I also included a few of my own recipes, because they are tried and true family and friend favorites. I hope you will enjoy them as well!

I love the 4th of July - it's my favorite holiday! There's so much nostalgia with bbq's, food, fireworks and fun! And who wouldn't want to win that prize?

Every single recipe looks amazing...it makes me want to go home and start cooking. Now! Although my boss probably wouldn't go for that. Also...he probably wouldn't love that I'm stalking your site while I'm "working" lol. I'm going to check out the contest...I just put up a roasted corn & jalapeno salsa recipe because, well, it needed to be shared, and I know you would have included it in your selections here...I just know it! :-)

I just made a similar corn recipe, except it wasn't skinny! I felt really guilty smothering my corn with mayo. Duh, I could have used greek yogurt and sour cream! Trying this next time for sure.
