Celebrate the holidays with this Jalapeño Cranberry Vodka Slushie! This fabulous cocktail is tart and sweet, with just a little bit of a kick. It’ll be the hit of the party!
Remember that delicious Spicy Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce I posted not too long ago? Well, now I have a new treat for you! My friend Leeann and I turned it into Jalapeño Cranberry Vodka Slushie!
You know those friends with crazy bartender skills? That’s my friend Leeann.
The ball got rolling on this recipe when Leeann mentioned that she made a delicious vodka slushie with leftover cranberry sauce from another friend of ours. So the wheels got turning, and I spent the day a couple Sundays ago creating my own Spicy Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce.
This stuff is delicious…I’m kind of in love with it! It’s perfect for the holidays. I suggest making extra and freezing some. Or at least grab some extra bags of fresh cranberries at the grocery store and freeze those so you can make this cranberry sauce again later. I promise you, you are going to want to use it for all sorts of things…on brie, on sandwiches, in drinks. Trust me when I tell you it’s addicting!
But let’s get get back this Jalapeño Cranberry Vodka Slushie!
The Sunday I made the cranberry sauce, we were also going out to dinner for a friend’s birthday. Leeann came over for a pre-dinner cocktail development session. We made the slushie, I photographed it; then we enjoyed a cocktail before we headed out to dinner. I’m thinking this cranberry sauce would be great in a margarita too. The birthday girl is the margarita queen, so you may see a cranberry margarita coming your way down the road. I have cranberry sauce frozen and ready to go!
HOW TO MAKE A JALAPEÑO CRANBERRY VODKA SLUSHIE
Add a little lime juice to one shallow plate and colored sugar to another. Dip the rim of your glass into the lime juice first, then the colored sugar. We used red and white colored sugar for the holidays.
In your blender, combine the vodka, frozen Spicy Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce, lime juice, and ice. Blend well. Your ice should be crushed.
Top the slushie off with plain or lime seltzer, or ginger beer. It works well with all three options! Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.
Festive and delicious!
Before we head over to our Jalapeño Cranberry Vodka Slushie recipe, I want to share a few other holiday cocktails with you. It’s always good to have options!
