Memories Captured: The Calm of the Beach

Today I’m linking up with Alison from Writing, Wishing for Memories Captured. When I was thinking of the memory I wanted to choose, our beach vacation over Christmas kept coming back to me. I think it’s because our lives have been so hectic for the past six months that I am craving down time. And there is something about the beach that I love…I find all the stress of my life just kind of floats away from me at the beach. I sleep deeper and longer. I’m more relaxed. 

These pictures make me think of all that I love about the beach…the calm, the peace and quiet. I think my youngest is very much like me when we visit the beach. He can entertain himself endlessly. Whether it’s kicking a soccer ball in and out of the water, jumping from a sea wall into the sand, or just playing in the water, he’s happy. One morning I found him snuggled under a blanket on a beach chair outside as the sun was rising, just hanging out. Much as he loves playing in the waves, he’s happy to have the down time as well.

After this weekend, the craziness of the sports schedules ends, and it will be time to kick back and take life a little slower. I’m looking forward to it!
