Menu Monday Giveaway! 10/01/12

Sharing is caring!

Disclosure: I received these notepads to review for Office Candy. All opinions are my own.

This week looks to be another hectic one in our house.  With soccer practices every day of the week, a cross country meet and two soccer tournaments this weekend, it’s enough to make my head spin!

So in order to keep myself sane and keep my family eating healthy, I’ve been planning my menus ahead of time.  For the last few weeks, I’ve been using this handy little notepad from Office Candy to help me with my menu planning and grocery shopping!  Using the Menu Planning Notepad by MomAgenda, I plan my meals, write down the ingredients I am missing next to the menu, add the extra things I need to buy for the week to the bottom, and then I can tear it along the perforated edge and take my list to the grocery store!  What a huge help this has been!

Could I do something like this on my own? Absolutely!  Would I?  Probably not…I never thought of the idea before.  This notepad reminds me to look over the ingredient list and make sure I make a note of what I am missing…something I haven’t always done in the past, especially with minor ingredients.  Prior to me turning over the “planning leaf” so to speak, I would go to the grocery store having at least a vague idea of what I want to make for the week, but inevitably I’d end up buying something that we already had.  So not only is this little notepad keeping me organized, it’s saving me money!

I’ve teamed up with Office Candy this week to send a lucky reader one of these notepads!  And as a bonus, you’ll also receive a Permission Slip Notepad from Mom Agenda as well, which I think you will find really helpful for after school playdates and last minute day care needs!  Office Candy has all sorts of great products to help keep you organized – check out their website!

Leave me a comment on this blog post by midnight EST Sunday Oct 7th, 2012 telling me why you think having one of these notepads would help you with your meal planning!  Be sure to like Office Candy on Facebook, as well as A Dish of Daily Life!  I’ll be announcing the winner on my Facebook page and Twitter, so you’ll want to be connected to hear the winner!

Here’s my menu plans for the week (I don’t plan the weekends unless I know we are going to be home…and this weekend I doubt I will be cooking!)

Monday: Chicken Souvlaki, sauteed asparagus, salad

This is a new recipe for us.  We’ve had this out at restaurants, so I thought I’d try it at home.

Tuesday: Bow-Ties with Peas and Ham

We have some leftover ham that we froze a couple weeks ago – going to try to use it up this week!

Wednesday: Tuscan White Bean Soup with Escarole and Paninis

This is a new soup recipe I am trying.  My family likes soup, and we received escarole in our share at the farm* this week.  I’m looking forward to trying this out!

Paninis are an old standby at our house.  In addition to meat and cheese, we add things like roasted red peppers and pesto.  My favorite is turkey and provolone with roasted red peppers and pesto!  These are great for leftovers too!

Thursday: Chicken Piccata, pasta, steamed / sauteed green beans and beets from the farm*

My kids love chicken piccata…this is a staple in our house!

Friday: Pasta with Broccoli and Sausage

I was going to make this last week but we ended up not making dinner that night due to scheduling issues.  This recipe calls for broccoli rabe which the kids aren’t crazy about, so I always use broccoli.  We received broccoli from our share at the farm this week and still have sausage in the freezer from last week, so we are ready to go.

*As I mentioned last week, we belong to a CSA and get most of our summer and fall vegetables there.

**I did receive the Menu Planning and Permission Slip Notepads in exchange for a review of these products.  All opinions represented in this post are my own.
