New Milford has a picturesque Green with fabulous restaurants, unique shopping and wonderful entertainment. Our downtown is one of my favorite things about where I live, and one of the luxuries I allow myself (on occasion) is shopping at a very special clothing boutique, Swank on Bank. I don’t really like to shop for clothes, and I don’t feel like I am very good at putting together outfits. I tend to shop online, but when I need something for a special occasion or work, it’s nice to have someplace to go where I can get something unique, something that not everyone else has. Lyn Van BusKirk makes visiting her store and shopping for clothes a pleasure.
What I really love about Lyn is how she makes her customers feel. Every one of us chooses where and how to spend our money. Think about where you splurge a little and why you splurge on the things you do. Is it the item itself that makes you feel special or the experience? It’s probably a little of both. They are both important…but experiences are what build customer loyalty. Lyn gets to know her customers’ names, and she gets to know them personally. I have been a loyal customer for years, and it’s because I trust Lyn. I trust her to help me pick out the right style for me. I trust her not to try to “sell” me something that ultimately isn’t going to work for me. She makes me feel like a valued customer when I am in her shop, whether I purchase that particular day or not. Maya Angelou said: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Lyn makes her customers feel important!
When my husband purchased a birthday present for me at her store this summer, she also wrapped up a cool pair of earrings to go with the top he purchased…as a gift from her. It was such a nice gesture, and completely unexpected! I could give you a number of examples of times that Lyn has gone over and above. But things like this are just one more reason why I will always shop with Lyn first when I need anything for work or a special occasion.
Great customer service is hard to find these days. Lyn Van BusKirk is a rare gem. If you haven’t been in Swank on Bank, I highly recommend checking it out!
